August 9, 2010, San Antonio, TX Civil Survival has entered a partnership agreement with the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities. May, 2010, Des Moines, WA Highline Community College was awarded an I-DEV grant to use the Civil Survival Series to create new society and justice courses for their students. March 2, 2010, Seattle, WA Civil Survival joined other exhibitors at the 90th American Association of Community Colleges conference April 17 - 20 in Seattle. We met 125 great people who are working to make America a better-educated nation. We learned how our legal education curriculum is fitting into the community college experience. We talked to faculty and administrators about how Civil Survival serves students in ABE, ESL, I-BEST, Workforce Development, college-readiness and a host of other interesting applications, including prison reentry, continuing education, and collaborative learning communities. Feb. 1, 2010, Seattle, WA Civil Survival Creative Founder & CEO Amanda DuBois presented a class at the Guiding Lights Conference which took place in Seattle January 29 - 31. The Guiding Lights Network is dedicated to the art of mentoring and community-building. This year, the theme of the conference was "Bridging the Gap". Amanda taught a class on basic legal rights and responsibilities for educators: "Legal Education for Everyone: Easy to Teach, Easy to Learn". | |
