"I am convinced that teaching people the basics of our legal system will lead to more community involvement, which will in turn benefit not just the students, but their children and their entire community."

About The Civil Survival Series

Civil Survival, LLC is owned by practicing attorney Amanda DuBois and operates from a waterfront office in Seattle's Fremont neighborhood. Civil Survival was started by Amanda in response to her concern that too many people walking through the doors of her law firm did not have a basic understanding of their legal rights.  She decided to change that, and Civil Survival was born.

The Civil Survival Series is a set of easy-to-understand books and workbooks for anyone who wants to learn about their basic legal rights and corresponding responsibilities. This fall, the Series will be offered online.

Written by Amanda and other legal professionals, and edited by an education expert, the Series is backed up by a professional team dedicated to empowering ordinary citizens who need to understand basic legal principles that affect every day life, including:

  • Employment Law
  • Landlord/Tenant Law
  • The Criminal Justice System
  • Marriage and Family Law
  • Personal InjuryLaw

The Civil Survival Legal Guides use case studies to explain basic legal principals. The Workbooks provide learning exercises that reinforce the information in the Legal Guides.

Both the Legal Guides and the Workbooks can be used for independent study or by small groups of students. Each guide explains the basics of one area of law and provides thought-provoking, relevant material for everdya legal issues.
